All About Stretch Cotton Tees
Stretch cotton is the ideal fabric for the perfect custom-fit t-shirt. These fabrics are typically comprised of a combination of cotton and either spandex or lycra (two different names for the same synthetic fiber) and offer exceptional stretch, breathability and moisture-wicking properties.
The most notable benefit of stretch cotton is the superb range of motion it allows for, even on much slimmer-cut shirts. For this reason stretch cottons are often a popular choice for slimmer, more seamless-looking undershirts - though they work equally well on their own, or even layered with an open dress shirt or blazer.
Crease recovery is another advantage of stretch cotton. These fabrics are incredibly wrinkle resistant and will retain their shape far better than 100% cotton fabrics, making them a superior choice for t-shirts you plan on wearing out and about.
Stretch cotton fabrics are available in a range of weights - lightweight, medium weight and heavy weight fabrics are all fairly common. Lightweight fabrics are ideal for undershirts and summer months, while standard and heavyweight fabrics are best for four-season shirts you’ll wear on their own or layered.
