A Tux For Every Occasion

A Tux For Every Occasion

Choosing a tux for your next formal occasion can be a formidable task. With so many options for both color, lapels and other customizations, we break down some of the most popular options for formalwear.

Classic Peak Lapel Tuxedo

The black peak lapel tuxedo is easily the most formal, and most classic, of all the tux styles. Perfect for all manner of black tie events, this tux exudes elegance, sophistication, and a timeless simplicity.

The Shawl Lapel Tuxedo

The shawl lapel tux actually predates its peak lapel cousin, dating back to Victorian England but finding renewed interest in the world of contemporary formalwear.

These rounded lapel jackets are red carpet favorites on Oscar night, and for good reason: Shawl lapels provide a slimmer profile and pair well with both neck ties and bowties.

Common iterations of the shawl lapel tux include black-on-black, navy with black satin lapels and navy with navy satin lapels

The Dinner Jacket

The dinner jacket typically consists of an ivory wool jacket with either black or ivory satin lapels. Ideal for social formal occasions like weddings or upscale dinner parties, the dinner jacket is almost always worn with black pants rather than matching ivory.

Notch Lapel Tuxedo

Less common but still perfectly suited to a formal wedding is the notch lapel tuxedo. This is a wonderful in-between style, a happy medium between the suit and the substantially more formal peak lapel or shawl lapel tuxedos.
