Two-Tone Printed Shirts

Printed shirts have been creeping into more closets over the last few years, and it’s not hard to see why. The vibrancy of a printed pattern is an easy way to kick-up otherwise simple warm-weather outfits. Add a short-sleeve floral printed shirt to a pair of khaki shorts, and you’re suddenly attracting a lot more attention than if you’d stuck with a solid blue oxford.

But we get that there’s a limit to how much attention you want a shirt to draw. A shirt that’s too loud will be harder to wear with any repetition. That’s why we’re big believers in the two-tone printed shirt.

Sticking to two cool, simple colors—such as blue and white—will make the shirt a little more subtle, no matter if it is covered in floral patterns or even birds. The two-tone contrast still allows the pattern to punch through, but keeps it level enough for the shirt to be worn at any bar, not just a tiki bar.

While two-tone printed shirts are a natural match for jeans and shorts, don’t underestimate their ability to pair with a solid-colored sportcoat, particularly one made from cotton or linen.
