On Fathers and Style

With Father’s Day around the corner, the team at Blank Label shares some of the style memories they associate with their fathers.

My dad wears a lot of swag from work, so like... golf vests with the logo of a company that makes flooring adhesives, etc. Lot of cargo shorts. His Blank Label suits are on point, though. We were both looking pretty sharp circa '86, however. Ken on the left in the Members Only, myself in the officially licensed Red Sox jacket (the year they lost the World Series to the Mets, btw), fire engine red pants, and I believe the Groucho glasses were by Oliver Peoples - Michael, Menswear Specialist

My dad wore a suit every day of his life but it was definitely a bit over-sized (it was the 90's)! The thing I really remember about his style advice was to always wear gold-toe socks. The socks mattered! While I doubt many guys are wearing gold-toes these days I think the sentiment remains the same. The little details, down to your socks, matter. - Paige, President

Shoe trees. I remember being a little kid and feeling fascinated by these strange, heavy objects that my dad would put inside of his leather dress shoes after getting back from a work trip. I used to take them out of his closet and play with them: it was as if they belonged to a giant wooden puppet. Later, my dad was always trying to pass shoe trees off to me, but I wouldn’t take him up on the offer.
